TAEKWONDO FOR TEENS

There are many reasons for teenagers to become involved in Taekwondo. Through the years, however, we have found that the majority of our teenage students have gotten started for one of the following reasons.

Self-Defense: Self-defense for teens takes many forms. Many parents worry about their teenagers being safe on the street, yet one of the real problems concerns a teen's ability to defend him or her self against others their age. Taekwondo teaches teens to think instead of panic in potentially serious situations as well as how to react to threats from others.

Self-Confidence: Self-confidence does not come naturally for most teens but rather it is developed over a period of time. As a teen accomplishes new goals for example, their confidence level increases and they become more able to meet harder challenges in the future. Teens become more self-confident in martial arts because they progress individually, at their own pace, and are not judged against others.

Fitness: Research has shown that the majority of teens are not in shape due to lack of exercise. Many teens have found that the traditional ways of working out, such as weights or running, are boring and hard to stay committed to. Taekwondo offers an exciting way to stay in shape that doesn't get boring or routine.

Lifestyle: Many parents have read articles or books about the martial arts, have seen TV documentaries, or have friends in the martial arts and have heard of the positive benefits that the martial arts have on young people's lives. Some examples of these benefits are improved concentration, self-discipline, improved grades, and a positive mental attitude.
Friendship: Working out with friends their own age who are working toward the same goals is a rewarding way to develop lasting friendships during a time in life when friendships are so important.

TAEKWONDO FOR MEN

There are many reasons for adult men to become involved in Taekwondo. Through the years, however, we have found that the majority of our male adult students have gotten started for one of the following reasons:

Self-Defense: The ability to take care of one-self in any potentially dangerous, or uncomfortable situation, is one reason many adult men join, even though most of our adults seldom, if ever, get into a fighting situation. They often find themselves, however, in an uncomfortable situation, such as walking to their car late at night, or escorting their wife or girlfriend in a less than secure neighborhood. It's at times like this that martial arts training greatly enhances your self-confidence because of the ability to really care of yourself, or someone you care for, when time arises.

TAEKWONDO FOR WOMEN

Many women are not comfortable with the thought of becoming involved in the martial arts. This initial nervousness or fear is due to many misconceptions about the martial arts or because they may simply not be aware of how much fun and rewarding it can be. There are many reasons for women to practice a martial art but from our experience our female students seem to feel the following reasons are the ones that made the most sense to them when they got started.

Self-Defense: Not being in control of an uncomfortable situation is the number one reason most women initially come to us when they consider the martial arts. Walking to a car late at night after work, riding a bicycle alone in an unfamiliar neighborhood, or even hearing of a bad experience a friend has had are all reasons for women to want to be able to defend themselves and to have self-confidence in these situations.

Fitness: Most women can only do so many aerobic classes or run so many solo miles before they start dreaming of something more enjoyable and exciting to do to stay in shape. Taekwondo is a great way to stay in shape that doesn't become dull or routine because as you get better and learn more there are always more challenges ahead to keep you inspired and coming back to the school.

Nunchaku Fighting and Forms

Welcome to the fastest growing weapons style in America! The new American Style Nunchaku was sanctioned by the United States Martial Arts Association several years ago as a new weapons style in the world. You see the techniques are not difficult to do, they simply take practice and some dedication to the art. I have received many reports of students winning tournament competitions after learning the techniques on the first two videos. Cane Self-Defense and Forms

The cane is the perfect weapon for  those who are interested in learning how to use the cane for self-defense.  Not only will you be exposed to the most efficient system yet devised on learning to use the cane, but you will also be learning to use the cane for excercise.  Either by itself, or with the help of one of our excercise bands, we will show you a system that can be used anywhere, and will give your body a healthy toning workout.
